BICSI (Tampa, FL) has released a tentative program for Cabling Installation Expo `96, to be held October 4 to 12 in Charlotte, NC.
The Expo, a joint venture of BICSI and Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazine (Nashua, NH), will begin with BICSI`s two-and-a-half day Telecommunications Distribution Systems Review course (Friday to Sunday), which precedes the Registered Communications Distribution Designer examination to be held on Monday. A golf tournament, the beginning of the installer training program and a technical seminar will also be held on Monday, with the opening of the Expo exhibits that evening.
The installer training program will run for five full days, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, followed by a full-day test on Saturday. The show itself will run from Monday evening through Wednesday, with the keynote session held on Tuesday morning. Breakout training sessions will be held Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday, with the exhibits open on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The breakout sessions will be divided into three levels--beginning, intermediate and advanced--with 12 beginning, 12 intermediate and 6 advanced sessions offered during a one-and-a-half-day period. Beginning sessions are slated to cover codes and rules; standards; and basic tool handling, standards, safety, installer tips, print reading, inside design, basic campus design and basic record-keeping. Among the intermediate topics are what not to do, record keeping, testing basics, inside design, campus design, Category 5 installation, firestopping, fiber optics and installer tips. The advanced topics include construction specifications, advanced testing, advanced fiber optics, advanced print reading, customer interaction and what not to do. Some of the half-day training sessions will be repeated. Closing ceremonies will be held Thursday morning.
