Fiber-Containment Vault Meets Tier-22 Loading Requirements

The newest version of AFL’s Switchblade vault features its signature folding design.

AFL recently introduced a new version of its Switchblade brand Fiber Containment Vault (FCV). The FCV-2 features the Switchblade’s signature folding design and meets ANSI-77 Tier 22 loading requirements. The 24-by-36-inch vault accommodates AFL’s Apex X-2 splice closure that can support up to 3,456 fibers. It also can support multiple Titan RTD Multiport Terminals mounted on a bracket.

BABA/BEAD-compliant versions are available.

ANSI-77 established 6 types of traffic for load ratings. Tier 22 is described as driveway, parking lot, and off-roadway applications subject to occasional, non-deliberate heavy vehicular traffic. Examples include a non-paved median between a divided highway or a non-paved shoulder area.

AFL’s Tier 22 Switchblade FCV-2 features hinged corners to allow folding with a screw-locking mechanism, as well as a cleated lid to ensure the lid stays in place. Mouse-hole knockouts accommodate conduit insertion.
