May 27, 2005
May 27, 2005 - Presentation will be made at Broadband World Forum Asia in Japan.

Siemens Communications will report on its new carrier-grade Ethernet, SURPASS Carrier Ethernet, at the Broadband World Forum Asia in Yokohama, Japan.

The presentation will take place on May 30.

This solution for access and aggregation networks is designed to provide a cost-effective and future-proof platform for broadband services. It is designed to help carriers and service providers turn their broadband business offerings into profitable business. It is also designed to provide residential consumers and enterprises with high bandwidth and flexibility produced by enriched broadband access.

Carrier-grade Ethernet allows carriers and service providers to deploy business and residential services on a single network. As a result, a wide range of revenue-generating applications such as high-speed Internet services, VoIP, triple play and a variety of business-oriented broadband applications is delivered over a single-source and future-proof platform.

The broad availability of Ethernet technology means reduced total cost of ownership due to significant CAPEX savings as well as reduced OPEX thanks to one-seat provisioning and point and click network management. SURPASS Carrier Ethernet offers a wide portfolio range including a variety of access technologies (xDSL, EFM, PON, WIMAX) supporting all types of infrastructures to enable right-sized solutions and functionalities tailored to first and second mile needs.

SURPASS Carrier Ethernet is a carrier-grade solution providing quality of service and up to 99.999 service and network availability through resilience, manageability and compliance with standards. Best-in-class operational efficiencies are achieved by automated end-to-end OAM and mass-service provisioning as well as SLA monitoring with seamless integration to operational processes, which is based on Advanced Provisioning Manager for Ethernet.
