The Superior Essex Communications Group (www.superioressex.com) has announced that it plans to close its manufacturing facility in Elizabethtown, KY, one of six North American plants that the Communications Group operates. The plant exclusively produces outside-plant copper communications cable products.
Approximately 230 positions will be eliminated as a result of the closure. Production at the plant will cease as of March 8, but some operations will continue through the end of the month.
"The flexibility and capacity we have built into our remaining five manufacturing facilities assures continuation of our service levels to customers and the ability to react quickly to increased demand," says Justin Deedy, president of Superior Essex's Communications Group.
