Tyco Electronics will host a series of free Web seminars that will concentrate on four major technology areas for the cabling and wireless industries.
The online seminars will run from Feb. 13 to March 28. The seminars are titled: Wireless Technology Solutions; Data Center/Call Center Cabling Requirements; MT-RJ Cabling for Secure Networks and Category 6 "Big" E Updates; and Residential Cabling Infrastructure Requirements.
Data Center/Call Center Cabling Requirements will be held Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. (EST), Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. (EST) and Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. (EST). The seminars will be taught by Herb Congdon, director of fiber systems marketing, Tyco Electronics. Issues to be covered include:
* Scope and objectives of TIA TR-41.1.1 Network Distribution Nodes,
* Facility requirements (size, location, support services),
* Cabling requirements (cable performance, connectivity, racks, enclosures),
* Network design requirements (pathways, spaces, management), and
* Modular concepts in moves, adds, changes.
Wireless Technology Solutions will be held Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. (EST) and Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. (EST). The seminars will be taught by Tom Janning, wireless product manager for Tyco Electronics. Issues to be covered include:
* State of the 802.11b WLAN standard,
* Current demand for wireless networking solutions in the enterprise and home markets,
* Addressing WLAN security issues, and
* Wireless solution alternatives .
MT-RJ Cabling for Secure Networks/Cat 6 E Updates will be taught on March 12 at 11 a.m. (EST) and March 13 at 3 p.m. (EST). The seminar will be taught by Congdon and Jerry Solomon, manager of copper systems at Tyco Electronics. Issues to be covered include:
* How the MT-RJ Secure connector system allows for multiple independent cabling systems,
* Why this physically "keyed" approach prevents cross-connection between systems,
* An overview of how the MT-RJ Secure connector offers all the networking advantages of the well-known MT-RJ fiber connector, with the addition of physical network security, and
* How does "enhanced" Category 6 differ from the proposed Cat 6 standard?
Residential Cabling Infrastructure Requirements will be taught on March 27 at 11 a.m. (EST) and March 28 at 3 p.m. (EST). Jamey Calloway, product engineer for Tyco Electronics and Solomon will teach the seminar. Issues to be covered include:
* How low-voltage installers and home builders can capitalize on the widespread adoption of broadband communications technology in the home,
* An overview of TIA Standard 570-A, and
* Providing a consolidated cabling infrastructure that supports voice, data, and video communications requirements
