The Siemon Company has announced that two of its employees were recently elected to BICSI.
Miguel Aldama, RCDD/LAN/OSP specialist, was elected as a district chair for BICSI Mexico. Nelson Farfan, RCDD, was elected as president of BICSI Colombia.
Aldama will lead the activities of the BICSI Mexico committee, with the main goal of increasing the educational and professional level of the Mexican telecommunications industry through BICSI materials and activities. He will hold the position for two years.
Aldama is an electronic and communications engineer who has worked in the telecommunications industry since 1985 in a variety of areas. These include installation, project management and design. Since September, Aldama has been a valuable team member of the Siemon Training Department where he is the Latin American Regional Trainer. He now holds the BICSI titles of RCDD, LAN specialist, and OSP specialist, as well as the CISCO titles of CCNA and CCDA. He has participated in the Mexican Cabling Standards Committee and in the BICSI Panel 900 for the Spanish Telecommunications Dictionary. For the last two years, he was also proctor of RCDD, LAN and OSP exams held in Mexico.
Farfan will lead the Colombian committee in all BICSI activities in order to increase the professional level of the cabling industry there. He will work to reach the district degree for the Colombian association, and promote the implementation of new technologies. He will also hold this position for two years.
Farfan's professional career includes more than 10 years in networking and connectivity for IBM Colombia. He joined Siemon in March in the role of strategic account manager for the Andean region. He achieved the BICSI RCDD certification in 1993 and holds a
BBA and specializations in lectronics/telecommunications from Colombian universities.
