Cable manufacturer Brand-Rex has announced a new two-year contract with Thus, an international Internet service provider.
The deal makes the Fife-based Brand-Rex the sole United Kingdom and global supplier of all telecom cables to Thus for the duration of the contract.
The financial value of the contract is not being disclosed, but the deal is good news for Brand-Rex as it follows the April announcement of a $4 million ongoing investment in the company's Glenrothes headquarters. The move has significantly enhanced the site's production capability in copper cabling to include telecommunication and data communication optical fiber cabling.
"The investment placed Brand-Rex at the forefront of international cable manufacturing and this contract is recognition of our enhanced market standing," says John Tinson, business director of Brand-Rex' telecom unit. "Thus is a first class alternative carrier company, financially one of the strongest in Europe."
"Orders have been very strong since we moved the optical cable production to Glenrothes but the award of this two-year deal makes us all particularly proud," says Tinson.
The Glenrothes site is one of only four optical fiber production facilities in the United Kingdom, and the only one in Scotland.
