September 25, 2001 Stargus Inc. has closed $10.15 million in Series B funding, revealing plans to address the network management challenges of multiple system operators.
Stargus, based in Andover, Mass., will allow for the delivery of advanced services such as Voice-Over-IP, streaming media, tiered services and commercial data offerings. The company plans to leverage Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) to create a service delivery platform.
The Stargus system is designed to provide real-time monitoring and automated management of DOCSIS networks. With the Stargus system, cable service providers will have information they need to minimize slowdowns and outages, identify upgrade or reconfiguration requirements, as well as discover additional revenue opportunities.
In the Series B financing round, funding was received from Castile Ventures; Pilot House Ventures; ADC Telecommunications (Nasdaq: ADCT); Still River Fund; Lauder Partners, and YAS Broadband Ventures. Stargus will use the proceeds from this round's investments to complete development of the initial version of the product and expand sales, marketing and business partnership activities.
