June 29, 2001 CableLAN Products, Inc. (www.cablelan.com), a supplier of premise wiring products, will provide a structured cabling solution for voice and data applications to a major educational publishing firm in Clifton Park, NY.
"For publishing purposes, this client realized that they needed a highly efficient and flexible networking system to handle their increasing demands of in-house file transferring and digital archiving, as well as many other current and future platforms," states Jan Pirrong, president of CableLAN. "We are supplying the entire package, which includes Helix/HiTemp SuperCAT360 Cat 5e plenum cable with Hubbell connectivity products. The recently announced warranty program for these two manufacturers was a deciding factor in the receipt of this order," Pirrong adds.
For the estimated 800 to 900 cable termination locations, more than 225,000 feet of Helix/HiTemp Cables' (www.drakausa.com) SuperCAT360 Cat 5e will be used. The SuperCAT360 4-pair UTP horizontal cables "are tested up to 360MHz, well beyond the 100 MHz required by the industry standards and specifications," says Pirrong. "Because of this extra headroom, SuperCAT360 cables are suitable for system upgrades without the need for rewiring."
Leto Communications (www.letotelecom.com), the contractor and installer for the site, will terminate the cables into Hubbell Category 5e patch panels in equipment racks, located in the telecommunication closets, and out to the jacks at the workstation outlet. An estimated 1,700 ports will allow for two network ports per workstation user.
CableLAN Products, Inc., headquartered in Norfolk, MA, has two other stocking warehouses in Warwick, RI and Albany, NY. The company distributes fiber optic and electrical products, representing more than 20 manufacturers for end use in public and private networks.
