The National Telecom Alliance (NTA--www.joinnta.com), a group of independent telecommunications-contracting companies, held its second membership summit meeting in Chicago late last month. Organizers deemed the summit a success, citing the assembly of delegates representing nearly $750 million in combined annual revenues.
During the summit, the NTA announced a series of purchasing agreements with industry manufacturers and distributors that the group says could save NTA members 10% in annual materials costs. Members also endorsed the use of a standard NTA estimating methodology, which will "streamline pricing and proposals for national projects," the NTA says.
The summit included information on selling regional and national accounts, tips on how to become customer-oriented, and a customer's viewpoint on what a national account expects from a vendor.
Formed in May, the NTA is an alliance of privately held electrical and telecommunications contractors. Member companies use the NTA's business and project-management techniques and training programs, which have been designed specifically for the telecommunications industry.
