Fluke Networks has released a new version of its Network Time Machine (NTM), a packet analysis appliance that provides automated multi-segment analysis (Auto MSA) capability for both portable and rack-mount platforms for up to 40 Gbps network traffic.
According to Fluke, the new version of the NTM affords network professionals the flexibility to use either rack-mount and/or portable means (such as Fluke's OptiView XG network analysis tablet) to gather packet information across multiple tiers within a data center or a distributed network. The new capabilities deliver a complete view of the transaction process and isolate points of failure nearly 5x faster than competitive test platforms, claims the company.
“Both our enterprise and carrier customers need to be able to troubleshoot high speed links whether they are in the data center or out in the field,” asserts Mitsuru Onodera, executive officer for information and communication technologies at Toyo Corporation. “Solutions like the new version of NTM are key in helping enhance troubleshooting wherever it’s needed.”
Fluke estimates that by 2015, server unit growth containing the 40-Gbps Ethernet interface is expected to grow by more than 40 percent, presenting new challenges in isolating packet delays and losses across different network segments.

The new version of Network Time Machine can capture 20 Gbps stream-to-disk (Tolly Group Certified); the portable version can capture 10 Gbps stream-to-disk, and will be available in September. More information is available here.
