Vicon to launch IP-based access-control system

February 11, 2009 -- The Vicon SMS access-control system will be launched at the ISC West Exhibition in early April.

February 11, 2009 -- At target="_blank">ISC West 2009, Vicon Industries will officially launch its IP-based access-control management system, Vicon SMS. Designed for complete integration with ViconNet digital-video management systems, Vicon SMS allows for the automatic clicking of ViconNet video with corresponding access-control events, which can then be called up and viewed via the Vicon SMS interface.

This new system is engineered using third-generation, edge device technology that enables the system to function independently on any PC software, target=" blank">Vicon says. The system is appliance-based, consisting of a controller and one or more "nodes" that connect to readers, sensors, and other physical-security devices. The operating system, database engine, and application software reside within these appliances. A browser-based interface allows users to manage and operate the system from any PC with network access using a standard Web browser.
