Paul Vanderlaan
As the technical manager of the Advanced Design and Applications Lab in the Nexans Data Communications Competence Center, Paul’s expertise helps ensure that Berk-Tek products lead the industry in performance and reliability.
Paul has over 18 years of experience in the cable industry, developing and managing high performance premise cables and electronic components systems. He has actively participated in working groups responsible for the publications of industry standards such as the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B documents and has chaired the TR-42.7 Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems subcommittee responsible for the development of augmented category 6 specifications.
Paul’s current responsibilities include the management of the Nexans lab responsible for maintaining a world class testing facility covering all aspects of networking from component and system modeling to active network component prototype verification. He represented Nexans at the IEEE P802.3ba 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Ethernet Task Force and currently attends the IEEE P802.3az, Energy-efficient Ethernet and IEEE P802.3bg 40Gb/s Ethernet Single-mode Fibre PMD Task Forces. He is co-author of two patents related to the design of wire and cable for premise cabling.
