The Niō Guardian and Protector automated 4K HD camera solution, from iDter, is now available as a Power over Ethernet (PoE)-powered device. The system incorporates technology compliant with the IEEE’s 802.3at and 802.3bt specifications.
“With PoE, a single cable powers the iDter system, eliminating the need to run separate cables, yielding significant labor and infrastructure cost savings,” the company said when introducing the PoE version of the system. “iDter now offers two versions of the Niō Guardian—Niō-PoE and Niō-AC. Niō-AC accepts 120/240/277 VAC input for applications on commercial lighting poles or replacing building flood lights.”
The company added that the PoE capability now extends the possibilities for applications and locations where Niō Guardian can be used, particularly including areas where installing additional infrastructure is impractical or impossible.
“We’re excited to include PoE connectivity, making it easier to deploy iDter for intelligent and immediate active deterrence of crime,” said Greg Ayres, vice president of marketing and business development for iDter. “With Niō-PoE, the limits of protecting the perimeter proactively have disappeared.”
The Niō Guardian and Protector technology features artificial intelligence deep learning and infrared night vision to detect in real time. iDter says the system “is proven to foil 98% of intrusions, within seconds and without delays or costs from human intervention. Building owners and property managers, heavy and construction equipment distributors, automobile dealerships/fleets and commercial properties with open-air assets can put an end to unwanted intrusions, loitering, and theft.
“The iDter system is simple to install and configure, and includes everything you need to get up and running quickly,” the company continued. “It leverages the latest cloud and edge video storage capabilities as well as video verified monitoring with dispatch to PSAP [public safety answering points] for active, 24/7 detection. iDter products are fully NDAA compliant, ETL listed, FCC certified, and carry an IP-65 environmental rating.”
In the system, Niō nodes are positioned around the protected premises to detect intrusion with a high-resolution camera that includes a wide-angle lens, multipole motion detectors, omnidirectional microphone, and quad-core intelligence. “Niō nodes also deter with a rich set of immediate responses: the instantaneous illumination of 1000 lumens of multidirectional LED floodlights, blinding strobes of red and blue LEDs, piercing sirens, situation-appropriate voice-down warning messages, and intimidating sound effects,” iDter further explained. “Intrusion events are detected and immediately verified, with video alert recordings sent to the user’s iPhone, Android phone, or iPad. Events are monitored in real time to ensure deterrence actions were successful, and if not, a video-verified alarm is sent to a central station for dispatch of authorities through 9-1-1 operators.”
