Moxa has introduced its ISD-1000 Series of data line surge protectors.

Moxa, a provider of hardened networking, communication and computing devices, has introduced its ISD-1000 Series of data line surge protectors, engineered to guard data and hardware from harmful transient energies resulting from the "switching" of nearby equipment. All four ISD-1000 models feature line-to-line and line-to-ground protection, and are rated for -40° C to 85° C (-40° F to 185° F) temperatures.

The ISD-1110-T (RS-232) and ISD-1130-T (RS-422/485) are in-line surge protectors, designed for general purpose use. Both models provide 4 kV of surge protection, and are certified to IEC 61000-4-5 Level 4 standard. The ISD-1210-T (RS-232) and ISD-1230-T are DIN-rail or panel mount models, designed for industrial use. Both models provide 20 kV of surge protection, and are certified to the demanding IEC 61643-21 C2 standard.

"We've been hearing from the market that surges continue to disrupt plant operations," comments Paul Wacker, product marketing manager for Moxa. "Responding to market demand, we've introduced our latest data line surge protectors to ensure reliable communications and to protect attached equipment."

To introduce customers to the ISD-1000 series, Moxa has released a demonstration video that shows the surge protector safeguarding a USB-to-serial device from a 4 kV surge:
