Altronix has introduced its eBridgePlus Ethernet over coax/PoE adapters.

Altronix has introduced its eBridgePlus Ethernet over coax/PoE adapters, which transmit IP video, data and power over coaxial cable, allowing legacy infrastructure to support IP devices up to 1500 feet (5x the maximum Ethernet distance, claims the company) without the need for repeaters.

The new product series supports PoE and PoE+ cameras, accessories, and access control devices. The eBridgePlus receivers are available in single, 4- and 16-port configurations that seamlessly operate with the eBridgePlus single port transceivers. In addition, a new eBridge 1PCRM receiver is being introduced that passes power to cameras or devices from a powered switch, managed or unmanaged midspan.

Utilizing a managed midspan such as the Altronix NetWay 8M or 16M permits remotely resetting and the real-time status monitoring of devices. The eBridgePlus adapter also provides auto detection and protection of legacy non-PoE cameras and devices to avoid damage to equipment.

“The new eBridgePlus Ethernet over Coax/PoE Adapters from Altronix allow existing analog infrastructure to be efficiently upgraded with today’s advanced IP devices without sacrificing performance,” comments Alan Forman, president, Altronix. Forman adds, “As the professional security industry continues to embrace networked systems, the eBridge product line provides a comprehensive solution that delivers significant cost savings versus replacing coax with network cabling.”
