Why HDMI cable quality matters in pro AV

A recent article from Extron Electronics, authored by Ron Justice, the company's director of technical services, explains how "there’s more to a [pre-terminated] HDMI cable than just the wire from which it’s constructed." The document explains how the quality of the raw cabling, connectors, termination, moldings and strain reliefs -- and how these factors are combined -- all contribute equally to an individual HDMI cable's performance. The article's premise is that, since "in commercial AV, you get what you pay for," savvy system integrators must beware the enticements of "bargain" cabling.
