Video-management system software developer Exacq Technologies has joined the Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA), a consortium of physical security manufacturers and integrators that promotes the interoperability of IP-enabled security devices across the industry.
Exacq marketing manager Roger Shuman describes the types of standards PSIA is developing as "much needed ... for better integration between the key components in physical security."
Exacq's exacqVision VMS software runs on Windows or Linux on a factory-installed hybrid network video recorder, a factory-installed IP camera NVR server, or a commercial off-the-shelf server. The software integrates with analog cameras, IP cameras, access control systems, and iSCSI storage systems from multiple manufacturers.
PSIA supports license-free standards and specs, which the organization says are vetted in an open and collaborative manner to the industry as a whole. Five working groups develop specifications. Those groups are titled IP Video, Video Analytics, Recording and Content Management, Area Control and Systems.
