Summary
From a high-density data center to a dispersed enterprise campus, the environments in which optical fiber is deployed vary widely. So too do the applications that network owners need optical fiber to support. This webcast seminar, delivered by experts from CommScope, will examine some of the common applications supported by fiber-optic cabling. In each case, the seminar will describe how fiber meets current requirements and is ready to meet future needs as well. It will discuss the roadmap of transmission speeds for data centers, explaining the types of fiber and connectivity that will enable 800-Gbit/sec transmission and beyond. This portion of the seminar will include information about the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and the extreme demands it is placing on data center networks—along with an explanation of the robust fiber-optic infrastructure needed to support AI.
For the enterprise, the seminar will focus on the common need for connections beyond the 100-meter distance that traditionally is the maximum distance for copper cabling. It will describe the critical role that fiber-optic cabling plays in allowing enterprises to meet their needs for longer-distance connections while also supporting power delivery to networked devices
