May 21, 2021
WiredScore launched its SmartScore certification with 70 buildings and 44 landlords across 7 countries.

On April 20, WiredScore announced the launch of SmartScore, the company's new certification for smart buildings.

WiredScore said it launched the certification with 70 buildings and 44 landlords across 7 countries. Billed as "defining the standard for the world’s smartest buildings," the company says the certification was created in collaboration with the owners and users of the world’s most advanced properties.

As defined by WiredScore, the certification "provides clarity on what constitutes a smart building, guidance on how to achieve the status, and proof of the value it adds to the asset" for building owners.

As further explained by the company:

During the certification process, we’ll help your designers and engineers implement a world-class smart building infrastructure, making sure your property is future-ready and equipped to give the tenants of tomorrow an outstanding and seamless experience. By selecting tech that won’t become obsolete, you can avoid expensive retrofits down the line.

SmartScore will enable you to benchmark your asset to create a baseline of in-building tech and build a roadmap for long-term strategic investment. You’ll be able to compare the performance of buildings within your portfolio and we’ll work with your team to guide your tenants on their journey to smart.

"This is a huge commitment from real estate globally, and we’re excited to see what the future has in store for the smart buildings space," said a WiredScore press statement, which continued, "The launch marks an important step towards us achieving our mission: to make the world’s buildings smarter and better connected, enabling a more collaborative, innovative and dynamic future."

WiredScore has produced a white paper entitled, Smart Buildings: Our Future is Smart, which its says "serves as a unified and cohesive pattern of thought that defines what it means to be a smart building, unpicking just how important they are to the built world, and showcasing some great examples of buildings doing smart now, and doing smart well."
