Mark the fiber-optic cable, connectivity and equipment manufacturer AFL (Spartanburg, SC) as fully onsite for the BICSI Winter Hybrid Conference & Expo 2022 (Jan. 30 - Feb. 3) in Orlando, Florida, exhibiting in its booth #915 with new products, showcasing the company's Fujikura 41S+ fusion splicer and Apex fiber splice closure lines.
Also at this year's event, AFL will be presenting at both BICSI masterclass and conference sessions, and will be providing a demo in the BICSI event's perennial "What’s New What’s It Do" stage.
BICSI product showcase
At its booth, AFL will demonstrate the Fujikura 41S+, a tool new to North America that's billed as a fully ruggedized, two camera, active cladding alignment fusion splicer featuring the proprietary Active Fusion Control (AFC) technology, which is designed to reduce reburns and improve splice losses for fibers with poor cleave angles.
Also at its booth, AFL will demonstrate the Fujikura 90S+, a single fiber core alignment fusion splicer with improved ergonomics and enhanced automation features.
The company will also be showing its FlowScout PON optical power meter, billed as an essential tool for completing network activation, testing and troubleshooting tasks in passive optical networks.
AFL will also be showcasing its ASCEND high density data center platform and Apex splice closure technology.
The ASCEND modular platform encompasses fiber housings, high-density optical cassettes, custom trunk cable assemblies and field reversible patch cords.
The Apex splice closure is designed to decrease installation time, increase network reliability, and increase density of fiber splices, especially when coupled with AFL’s MicroCore cable and Wrapping Tube Cable (WTC) with SpiderWeb Ribbon (SWR) cabling products, as noted by the company.
FlowScout PON Power Meter demo
BICSI Winter live attendees dropping by the BICSI Theatre on January 31 at 5:45 p.m. Eastern will get to see Rob Gilberti, Business Development Manager for AFL’s Test & Inspection Equipment unit, present on BICSI's rotating 'What’s New What’s It Do' stage. Gilberti will discuss the company's FlowScout PON Power Meter, designed to be used on networks such as BPON, EPON, GPON, 10G-EPON, XG-PON, XGS-PON, as well as video networks.
Data center master classes
Conference attendees may also earn 3 BICSI CECs by attending the BICSI masterclass session titled, “Facing the Challenges of Today’s Modern Data Center—from Hyperscale to Edge”, held Monday, 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
Per the manufacturer, this masterclass "takes an in-depth look at, not only the optical infrastructure required to meet the needs of today’s modern data center, but also opportunities to improve deployment speed, quality, and accuracy through 'rack & roll' strategies, pre-term solutions, and automated workflow and report generation."
Finally, on Wednesday, February 2, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Eastern, BICSI attendees will learn more about how ribbon fiber is used in today’s advanced communications infrastructure, in a conference session entitled “If You Thought Ribbon Was for Data Centers Only—Think Again!", which will also be hosted virtually at no cost to BICSI attendees.
