At last month's 2015 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Cabling Installation & Maintenance paid a visit to the booth of the Communications Cable and Connectivity Association (CCCA), to interview the industry group's executive director, David Kiddoo.

"CCCA has been a very involved organization representing the entire supply chain of cabling suppliers, materials suppliers, cabling manufacturers and distributors, and systems integrators," said Kiddoo. "We're doing a lot of interesting and importing things for our industry, talking about sustainability, quality and compliance. We're adding new members -- we actually had six new members this year.

Kiddoo added, "Regarding the relevance of CCCA to all components of structured cabling, we certainly enjoy educating and talking to installers, and users, helping them understand the importance and liabilities of not using high-quality materials, and best practices -- not only the equipment itself, but also to bring recognition tothe installation protocols and things we can speak of as important to the total industry."

As stated in the association's official mission statement, "CCCA is a major resource for well researched, fact-based information and education on the important issues, technologies and structured cabling products impacting the current and future needs of the building network and cabling infrastructure. CCCA is proactive in supporting and participating in codes and standards bodies and other trade, industry and safety organizations, which affect the quality, performance and societal needs of the structured cabling infrastructure. In a nutshell, CCCA focuses its mission on 'What You Need to Know' to stay abreast and well informed on topics and issues vital to the structured cabling industry."
