TIA publishes legacy domain standard

June 18, 2003
June 18, 2003 - Standard specifies interfaces that support the bearer traffic between media gateways.

The Telecommunications Industry Association has published a new standard: Legacy Mobile Station Domain, Step 1, TIA-930.

This standard specifies the necessary interfaces to support the bearer traffic between media gateways in the initial step of the domain.

The standard defines bearer support of G.711 pulse code modulation encoded Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) as defined in RFC 1890 at a minimum, for use between media gateways in a cdma2000 domain. This document utilizes existing Internet Engineering Task Force and 3GPP2 protocols when applicable to minimize the new work needed.

TIA-930 was created by TIA TR-45.6 Subcommittee on Adjunct Wireless Packet and Data Technology.

The TIA is based in Arlington, VA. For more information visit www.tiaonline.org.
