TIA-606-B addendum will harmonize with ISO/IEC standards

ANSI/TIA-606-B-1 will cover Automated Infrastructure Management, in harmony with ISO/IEC 14763-2-1 and ISO/IEC 18598.

The Telecommunications Industry Association’s (TIA) TR-42.6 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Infrastructure and Equipment Administration—the committee that developed the 606 series of standards—recently issued a call for interest for Addendum 1 to ANSI/TIA-606-B. The addendum, tentatively titled “Automation Infrastructure Management Systems,” will be produced in harmony with an existing international standard also covering the technology.

“The purpose of this addendum,” the committee said, “is to update the core functions, auxiliary functions, and usage recommendations for automated infrastructure management (AIM) systems specified in TIA-606-B to harmonize with ISO/IEC 14763-2-1 Implementation and Operation of Custom Premises Cabling Part 2: Planning and Installation—Amendment for Inclusion of AIM Systems and ISO/IEC 18598 Automated Infrastructure Management (AIM) Systems—Requirements, Data Exchange and Applications.”
