The latest revision of the Data Center Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard includes revisions related to edge data centers, cable and connector types, and cabinet widths.
The Telecommunications Industry Association has published ANSI/TIA-942-C Data Center Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard. Approved for publication earlier this year, the “C” revision of the 942 standard includes several significant modifications from the “B” version, including the incorporation of previously published standards documents, recognition of a new media type and connectivity, new requirements, new recommendations, and references to technical documentation published by other standards-development organizations.

TIA-942-C also includes several annexes, which provide additional information to what is in the body of the standard.
The video below is a question-and-answer session with members of the TIA’s TR-42.1 Committee, which wrote the revised standard. The discussion, which covers changes in the “C” version of TIA-942 from the standard’s previous “B” version, was recorded shortly after the standard received final approval for publication in February 2024.
