February 9, 2009 -- LonMark International (LMI)announced a collaborative agreement with GreenLink Alliance, a trade association focused on promoting products and services that help to conserve energy in buildings. Separately, Lonmark unveiled a "Green-centric" resource center connecting industry job seekers and employers.
The Lonmark-GreenLink partnership provides a platform for bringing together LonMark's work in the field of open and interoperable standards with GreenLink's mission to influence policy makers to expand tax incentives for owners of existing buildings that want to improve energy efficiency using intelligent control technology. GreenLink believes that building automation systems that leverage the capabilities of the power line offer a cost-effective and environmentally sound solution to retrofit legacy buildings to increase energy efficiency.
LonMark International welcomes the opportunity for both organizations to jointly offer further education to building owners, facility managers, and the general public about the advantages of utilizing residential and commercial control technology.
"LonMark is a reputable and well established organization and GreenLink is honored to be a strategic partner with them," says Cory Vanderpool, Executive Director of GreenLink Alliance. "GreenLink recognizes that interoperability and open standards are critical to further market adoption of residential and commercial building control technology."
"LonMark is committed to partnering with other organizations dedicated to educating our members to implement practical, cost-effective intelligent control systems," says Ron Bernstein, executive director of LonMark International. "This alliance between LonMark and GreenLink will foster ongoing efforts to establish incentives and legislation to encourage more energy efficient system designs. LonMark's members will benefit through expanding opportunities via governmental incentives to utilize open, interoperable solutions."
LonMark Americas unveils online career center
LonMark Americas, the North American affiliate of LonMark International and supporter of the LonWorks control-networking technologies, announced the unveiling of a new resource center connecting industry job seekers and employers. The online resource center only accepts and posts resumes and jobs from within the intelligent building and control networking industry, which makes for easy and instant access to relevant job openings and qualified job seekers only.
"We need more qualified people and an easier way to find them in order to fill existing job openings in the energy efficiency, controls, and engineering market," says Ron Bernstein, executive director, LonMark International. "As a non-profit association touching many companies and people worldwide, we often get asked to help find qualified people or receive resumes from individuals looking to enter this market. This new industry tool, we feel, will support the Green-Tech, Green-Collar jobs market initiatives proposed by President Obama. We look forward to supporting ongoing economic recovery and growth with this and other new programs from LonMark and anticipate wide usage of this career center."
LonMark member and non-member companies alike can use the LonMark Career Center to reach qualified candidates. Employers can post jobs online, search for qualified candidates based on specific job criteria, and create an online résumé agent to email qualified candidates daily. They also benefit from online reporting that provides job activity statistics.
For job seekers, the career center is a free service that provides access to employers and jobs in the industry. In addition to posting résumés, job seekers can browse and view available jobs based on their criteria and save those jobs for later review if they choose. Job seekers can also create a search agent to provide email notifications of jobs that match their criteria.
The LonMark Career Center will be easily accessible from LonMark Americas' website, www.lonmarkamericas.org, as well as from the website of LonMark International, www.lonmark.org. It can also be accessed directly at careers.lonmarkamericas.org.
