Fis Fiber Video Inspection Probe 62b9fb3aa9709

The FIS Fiber Inspection Probe from Fiber Instrument Sales features an ergonomic handheld design that can be used in a completely vertical or horizontal fashion, or it can fold inward to an approximately 45-degree angle. That angle allows the technician to use the probe in a number of positions within an enclosure or patch panel.

With a single button push, the video probe locks onto the connector endface image, automatically centers it and focuses on it, then analyzes the endface against the IEC standard specifications and produces a pass or fail rating.

The probe has a WiFi USB adapter that can be used to transfer saved data wirelessly to a laptop. A USB hardwired connection also is available.

“Connector endface contamination is a big problem with fiber-optic cables and patch cords, and it causes network issues,” FIS says. “If you are a professional technician, you need a quality optical microscope. The magnification of connector endfaces will allow you to discover any quality problems such as scratches. You need to make sure you have a clean connection with no dirt and debris. Visual inspection is fast, easy, and simple.”

Available from FIS for $2249, the unit includes 2.5-mm and 1.25-mm UPC patch cord tips, as well as UPC, SC, and LC bulkhead tips. APC and MPO tips are available upon request.
