VeEX intros MTX150x Lite multi-gig analyzer, condenses 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps internet test functions

Sept. 21, 2022
Weighing 1 kg (2.2 lbs.), the field portable unit condenses comprehensive 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps test capabilities into what VeEX bills as the industry’s smallest touchscreen handheld form factor.

At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2022 (Sept. 19-22) in Philadelphia, VeEX Inc., a global supplier of test and measurement systems for advanced networks, announced the general availability of its MTX150x Lite internet service analyzer.

Weighing 1 kg (2.2 lbs.), the new, field portable unit condenses comprehensive 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps test capabilities into what VeEX bills as "the industry’s smallest, touchscreen handheld form factor."

Key features and test capabilities of the MTX150x Lite internet service analyzer, per the manufacturer, include:

  • Native RJ45 support of 10/100/1000BASE-T, 2.5/5/10GBASE-T rates.
  • SFP+ fiber interface supporting 1GE and 10GE rates.
  • QoS and QoE testing (Layer 4-7) including Ookla Speedtest support.
  • IP Troubleshooting, PoE detection, CAT-x cable checker & WiFi Wiz (SSID & basic IP).
  • Remote control and access for collaboration, technical support, or test result management/export.
  • Compatible with VeEX R-Server Workflow and Asset Management system.

A VeEX press release orients the new tester squarely toward Industry 4.0 requirements. According to VeEX:

"The fourth industrial revolution that is currently underway, is rapidly changing the way people work, live, and communicate. New disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence, mobile devices, and others enabling these life changing innovations, are all putting immense pressure on Ethernet-centric networks to deliver service reliably and securely. Operators around the world now realize that today’s access networks must evolve to 10 Gbps (10G) to keep pace with new applications including Industry 4.0 requirements."

In response to such demand, VeEX states that the MTX150x Lite test platform "is purpose built to address the 10G network transformation at a lower price tag. Field engineers and technicians alike can now verify Internet speeds up to 10 Gbps, focusing on Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) tests based on FTP, TCP, and HTTP protocols."

The company emphasized that the new tester's ability to quickly verify Service Level Agreement (SLA) rates or perform an Ookla Speedtest in less than 60 seconds from boot up minimizes technicians' time on-site for improved efficiency.

"The unit inherits many other intuitive capabilities from its respected predecessors but sets new benchmarks for price and performance in a compact form factor," concludes a VeEX press statement.

QUOTE

“The value of a robust, high-speed, reliable Internet connection to access critical Internet and related services in today’s environment cannot be understated. Service providers worldwide are upgrading their access networks to support up to 10G applications, using either Digital Access Architecture (DAA), Extended Spectrum DOCSIS (ESD), XG(S)-PON or 10G EPON, and/or xWDM technologies; we are witnessing strong demand for full featured, versatile Ethernet testers with basic optical fiber test capability. Although the MTX150x Lite is designed to be ‘Lite’ on the pocket and form factor, it is rich in terms of features and performance.” -- Ricardo Torres, product marketing director at VeEX
