Platinum Tools is launching its new PT-OTDR-100 mini OTDR tester during the 2024 BICSI Fall Conference & Expo. The expo will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from September 15th-19th at the Caesars Forum with Platinum Tool’s being at LYNN booth #2012.
“The Platinum Tools PT-OTDR-100 mini OTDR tester provides a simple to set up and easy-to-use solution for OTDR testing,” explained Nicholas Bates, V.P. Datacom Datacenter. “The PT-OTDR-100 includes a 5.5 inch OLED touch screen for easy viewing of cable tests and can save and export your OTDR tests. This unit will perform OTDR tests, OPM, VFL, and laser source functionality for fiber optic cable, and will also perform continuity testing, TDR functions for Category cable and active network testing.”
The OTDR tester also has audio testing with an event map, a test range of 3m-105km, exportable tests as SOR or PDF files, an RJ45 remote for copper cable testing, active network testing, and a bevy of other features.
“The PT-OTDR-100 analyzes the measuring curve of optical fibers, providing insights into uniformity, defects, fractures, joint couplings, and other properties,” Bates continued. “It measures optical fiber attenuation, connector attenuation, and faults, and displays loss distribution along the fiber length. It is essential for optical fiber construction, maintenance, and monitoring.”
