OLTS Conducts 1-Second Tier 1 Test

Feb. 3, 2025
EXFO’s PXM/LXM OLTS Pro measures loss, length, and polarity on duplex and multifiber links at two wavelengths.

EXFO has introduced the Pro version of its PXM/LXM Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS), which conducts a full Tier 1 fiber test in 1 second. “Now, contractors and data center technicians of any experience level can manage Tier 1 certifications with confidence, ensuring first-time-right testing and avoiding costly repeat tests,” the company said when making the introduction. “That’s critical at a time when data centers are being impacted by the generative AI revolution, with centers propagating globally and densifying to handle burgeoning usage demand. EXFO’s PXM/LXM testing of signal loss, length, and polarity is delivered in one second—the fastest in the industry—and compliant with certification standards.”

EXFO emphasized the following benefits, capabilities and features of the PXM/LXM Pro.

  • 1-second OLTS testing on the Pro version of the tester measures loss, length, and polarity on duplex and multifiber links at two wavelengths.
  • First-time-right polarity is ensured because the tester can detect duplex and Base-8/Base-12 polarity issues hidden in trunk cabling.
  • Flexibility is built-in because in addition to native duplex and Base-8/Base-12 fiber testing, the PXM/LXM enables testing of 16 or 24 fibers in 1 second using dual kits or a loopback method.
  • Multi-connector compatibility allows users to switch within seconds between duplex and multifiber testing with EXFO’s Click-Out adapters, which are compatible with duplex MDC, SN, LC, as well as MPO and Systimax MTP.
  • Time savings is achieved through creating test identifiers in FastReporter3 and importing them to instruments as jobs.
  • Lower TCO by offering the Click-Out adapter capability along with a 3-year warranty and calibration that keeps testers in the field.
