Site survey software speeds enterprise Wi-Fi planning, deployment

Feb. 17, 2014
Ekahau Site Survey (ESS) 7.0 supports data collection from multiple Wi-Fi adapters, including 802.11ac and 802.11n WLAN models.

Ekahau (Reston, VA), a provider of Wi-Fi / WLAN design and optimization tools, has announced the release of Version 7.0 of its Wi-Fi site survey and planning tool, Ekahau Site Survey (ESS).

According to the company, with ESS 7.0, WLAN engineers and IT administrators can conduct Wi-Fi site surveys using multiple Wi-Fi devices, simultaneously. Using multiple Wi-Fi adapters with ESS reduces the time it takes to complete a site walk and improves site survey speed by up to 2x, while maintaining WLAN measurement accuracy; this translates into 2x faster network verification and optimization, contends the company.

"Simply put, version 7.0 of Ekahau Site Survey allows engineers to spend less time surveying and more time maximizing Wi-Fi performance."

Other key improvements to Ekahau Site Survey 7.0 include the following: A new automated WLAN channel optimizer suggests ideal channel configuration, taking into account wider 802.11ac and 802.11n channelization. Additionally, for quickly analyzing differences in the Wireless LAN over time, such as emerging interference or coverage problems, ESS 7.0 offers a variety of "Network Differences" comparison features.
