In its inaugural year of 1993, Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazine was published four times quarterly, with about 100 pages of information per issue. The magazine highlighted emerging cabling industry topics including the pros and cons of the SC fiber-optic connector and the assets and liabilities of Category 5 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cabling. One 1993 feature took an in-depth look at the disaster recovery planning done by the telecommunications and data communications departments of Carnegie-Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA).
