Things are looking up for Amphenol and CommScope after the completion of a $2.1-billion dollar deal for the latter's DAS and outdoor wireless networks businesses. Amphenol will add significantly to its Communications Solutions portfolio, and CommScope enhances its financial position with the proceeds.
Amphenol has completed its acquisition of CommScope’s distributed antenna system (DAS) and outdoor wireless networks (OWN) businesses from CommScope. Both companies announced the completion of the deal, first announced in July 2024, on February 3.
R. Adam Norwitt, Amphenol’s president and CEO, said the acquisition “brings to Amphenol a strong portfolio of innovative and advanced technologies for communications networks. We are excited to welcome nearly 4,000 talented employees to the Amphenol family and look forward to further supporting our customers who are developing next-generation wireless networks around the world.”
The company expects the DAS and OWN businesses to generate approximately $1.3 billion in full-year sales for 2025.
CommScope said it will use the proceeds from the sale, which were estimated to be $2.1 billion when it was announced in July, “to pay fees and expenses associated with the transaction and to repay all outstanding amounts under the company’s asset-backed revolving credit facility, to repay in part the company’s 4.75% senior secured notes due 2029 and to repay in full the company’s 6% senior secured notes due 2026.”
